Let’s recap what happened so far.
- First, Agudas Yisroel published their “Guidelines” about how to reopen the shuls. (Frankly, it seemed more like how NOT to reopen.)
- Rav Pinchos Frankel questions the legitimacy and halachic permissibility of the polices put forth in said guidelines. He also indicates that the guidelines were not released with the consent of Rav Malkiel Kotler shlit”a, one of Agudas Yisroel’s Moetzes’ own Rabbonim and that the administration at Agudas Yisroel deliberately sidestepped the Rosh Yeshiva.
- Agudas Yisroel responds by releasing a second letter, calling Rav Frankel’s claims “slander”. This letter did little if any to address the substantive issues which Rav Frankel mentioned. It was also not signed by most of the Moetzes, and of particular note, was not signed by Rav Kotler.
Presently, someone in the community asked Rav Shmuel Kamenetsky shlit”a if the original guidelines published by Agudas Yisroel (#1 above), as well as Agudas Yisroel’s response to Rav Frankel’s criticism (#3 above) were legitimate. Listen to the audio below as Rav Shmuel indicates that neither were legitimate.
