YeshivaWorld & Matzav Censor the Gadol Hador

    Spread the love

Below is a letter which was hand written by HaRav Chaim Kanievsky shlit”a on the 27th of Nissan (April 21st) of this year. We were unable to find this letter on the websites of YWN or Matzav. Is the Gadol Hador’s message inconsistent with the #FakeFrumNews’ model of doom and gloom?

    Free Translation:

To all the Rabbonim, Geonim, Roshei Yeshivos and Kollelim, and administrators of the chinuch of our Torah HaKedosha…

Regarding the matter in which we are currently experiencing due to our many aveiros (ie, the COVID-19 crisis),

Being that due to our many aveiros we don’t know until what and until when it will continue the concern of distancing due to the corona virus chas vishalom, and we are now holding before the beginning of the summer Zman, and if chas vishalom the mosdos hatorah will not open, it will be impossible to measure or to describe the danger and those who will be harmed by this, from young to old, both spiritually and materialistically…

We believe (we are ma’aminim benei ma’aminim) in the words of the Gemara (Sota 21) that Torah protects and saves (magina umatzla), and in the Gemara in Shabbos (119), that the world is maintained through the words of Torah of children (haolam miskayem b’hevel pihem shel tinokos shel beis rabban).

Therefore, in our opinion, it is a holy responsibility that all Mosdos Hatorah open immediately (emphasis added), and certainly the zechus hatorah which protects and saves will stand for us im yirtzeh Hashem so that we should not get injured chas vishalom. And it is extremely obvious that we are required to be careful and to warn others to be careful with utmost care with all aspects of being adherence to the mitzva of vinishmartem mi’od linafshoseichem, so that no one gets injured chas vishalom, and no one injures anyone else, [and on each one lies the responsibility of his students], and Hashem who is “tov” (good) should say to the mashchis (the Satan) “enough”, and all sick people should get well quickly, and may it be fulfilled the pasuk of ki lo sishachach mipi zaro (may Torah not ever be forgotten from his children), and may we merit the geulah sh’leima speedily in our days, Amen.
